trips, parade and yardwork

Eve went on a school field trip to a local forest. Here is a picture of a blindfolded Eve experiencing a tree without using her eyes. The kids had fun looking at all kinds of creepy crawlies and listening to the sounds of the forest.

We also went to our town's (very small) memorial day parade.

Jim's been working hard around the house. At the side of our driveway are these really tall ornamental grasses that I hate. They are in a bed of disintegrated mulch and weeds. This picture is from last month. By the end of the summer they will be good 5-6 feet tall and obstruct your view of the house and (more importantly) other cars as we back out of the driveway.

Jim dug them out and we moved them (man were they heavy!). We then laid down some sod and I think the improvement is miraculous! Next steps: wheelchair ramp (if you look really hard you will see the beginnings of one to the side of the steps) and hedge trimmer.
